When accessible, the Holy Door—the only one outside of Europe— welcomes people from everywhere who whishes to experience, in crossing it, a spiritual process. For Christians, this symbolic passage is done through Jesus Christ.

During its inaugural year, in 2014, over 335 000 people passed though the only Holy Door in American. It was again opened during the Jubily of Mercy requested by Pope Francis in 2016. Notre-Dame de Québec’s Holy Door was also opened in 2024 for a very special reason: the 350th anniversary of foundation of the Quebec diocese. It was sealed en December 2024 and will not be openened in 2025.
